What riders said
once they had a plan

What’s inside

Two systems, three stages,
one clear path

You start on the ground, building a horse that trusts you and respects your space. You finish out in the open, on ground nobody set up for you. Everything you want in the saddle, you build on the ground first — in horsemanship, and in the western work on top.

Horse Mastery - Stage One volume with lesson pagesWestern - Volume I with lesson pages
Stage one

On the ground

Trust, respect and control before the saddle. This is where the rest of the work is decided.

01
How a Horse Thinks HorseInstincts, emotional states, fear and relaxation — and how trust is actually built. WesternPressure and release, what he’s actually reacting to — and why he did that.
02
Groundwork That Transfers HorseLeading, personal space, lunging, obstacles. Leadership without force. WesternRound pen work, yielding hindquarters and forequarters, desensitizing. 40+ exercises.
03
Leadership Without a Fight HorsePressure and release, timing, consistency — how you talk back. WesternTiming, the quiet correction, and what to do instead of escalating.
Horse Mastery - Stage Two volume with lesson pagesWestern - Volume II with lesson pages
Stage two

In the saddle

Seat, hands and feel — in the order that actually holds up.

04
Seat, Hands and Legs HorsePosition, steering, walk, trot, canter and transitions. WesternThe western seat, split reins and romal reins, and the move from direct reining to neck reining.
05
Balance, Collection and Feel HorseStraightness, contact, collection, circles — refinement instead of control. WesternThe jog and the lope, leads, and what a soft feel is and isn’t.
Horse Mastery - Stage Three volume with lesson pagesWestern - Volume III with lesson pages
Stage three

Out in the open

The horse you can take anywhere — and a plan for what comes after.

06
Real Ground, Real Challenges HorseTrail rides, group riding, spooking, nervous horses, difficult environments. WesternGates, bridges, tarps — and the trail outside the arena.
07
When It Goes Wrong HorseCorrecting mistakes, preventing bad habits, building your own training plans. WesternFixing what you taught wrong, and a plan for the next twelve months.
Plus

135 patterns, and you can find the one you need

75+ riding patterns and exercises, organised by difficulty from warm-ups to advanced flatwork. 60 western patterns, four disciplines, three levels, five patterns each: showmanship, horsemanship, trail, ranch riding.

Your horse is telling you something right now. This is how you read it.

Ears, eye, muzzle, head and neck, tail, muscle tension and weight distribution — as annotated diagrams, not descriptions. With decision trees: what you see, what it usually means, what to do next. And the four misreadings that get riders hurt.

Questions riders ask us

How do I get it after I buy?+

Right after payment. You receive every file — both systems, all the modules, the 135 patterns, the twelve-week program and the five bonuses. Nothing is shipped, nothing arrives later, there's no waiting period.

What’s the difference between the two systems?+

The Horse Mastery System is built around horsemanship principles and English-style riding: psychology, groundwork, communication, balance and position. The Western Horsemanship System is a twelve-week program for the western saddle — split reins, the jog and the lope, neck reining, and western patterns. The groundwork overlaps; everything from the saddle up does not.

I only ride one way. Do I need both?+

Not to get results. Buying one system is enough if that’s the way you ride. The collection is for riders who ride both, who are moving from one to the other, for barns with riders in both saddles — and for anyone who wants the full picture of how a horse learns.

I’m a complete beginner. Is this too advanced?+

It’s built for exactly that. Both systems start on the ground, with understanding your horse rather than riding it, and move forward one stage at a time. You never have to guess what to work on next.

I’ve been riding for years. Is there anything new for me?+

Most experienced riders use the early stages as a structured refresher and spend their time in the later modules — collection and straightness, real-world riding, the soft feel, and the 135 patterns, each graded by level. If you’ve been riding for years without a written plan, the twelve weeks is the part that’s new.

Can I do this without a trainer?+

That’s the whole premise. Every session tells you what to watch for, and the western program ends every week with a check written so you can judge your own work. It doesn’t replace a good trainer. It replaces guessing.

Are the five bonuses really included?+

All five, at no extra cost, delivered with everything else. There is no upgrade tier and no second purchase to unlock them.

Is the health handbook a substitute for a vet?+

No, and it isn’t written as one. It helps you spot problems early, understand what you’re looking at, and know when something needs professional attention. For anything acute — colic, a serious wound, sudden lameness — call your vet. The handbook tells you what to do while you wait, not instead of calling.

Can I use this with my students?+

You can teach from it and print the pages you need for your own lessons. What you can’t do is redistribute or resell the files. Your purchase covers you and the riders you teach, not a second copy for another business.

Can I read it on my phone, and can I print it?+

Both. Everything opens on a phone, tablet or computer, and every page is laid out to print — the patterns, the planner, the ride log and the quick-reference sheets are meant to be taken to the barn. Every diagram still reads in black and white.

Is it a subscription?+

No. One payment, and both systems are yours. Nothing renews and nothing expires.
